An HbA1c test is a blood test that measures your average blood sugar levels over the past two to three months by determining the percentage of your red blood cells’ hemoglobin that has sugar attached to it. It is used to diagnose and monitor diabetes and prediabetes, and unlike daily glucose checks, it provides a long-term picture of blood glucose control. The test is simple, requires no fasting, and results are typically available within 24 hours.
